GRAND RAPIDS – West Michigan's first summit focused on Fatherhood takes place Friday. More than 30 speakers will take part in breakout sessions, sharing information on topics ranging from the Family Preservation and Reconciliation Act to the spiritual aspect of fatherhood.
The event is open to all interested family members. Organizers say fathers need to work harder on building personal relationships with their kids, not just a financial one.
“We have an obligation as a nation to make sure a father does take care of his children by attending P.T.A. meetings by fixing breakfast for their kids, by going bowling,” says Minister Ronald Smith.
The 2008 National Fatherhood Summit, hosted by Children Need Both Parents Incorporated runs from 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. at Abundant Life Ministries on Division Street SE.
Admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
